ChIIPP Overview of Services
The goal of this program is to reduce the number of preventable injuries, diseases and poisonings among children under 14 years of age through:
- Education
- Promotion of health and safety practices
Who is eligible for this program?
This program serves the following:
- Parents to children ages 0-14
- Foster care parents
- Head Start/Preschool staff
- Health Care Providers
- Emergency Response Providers
- Family Services/Social Workers
- Childcare Providers
- Home visitors who work with families of young children
- Public Health Nurses who work with families of young children
Services provided
Sacramento County offers the following services:
- Public awareness campaigns
- Staff In-services and training
- Educational materials and resources on child health and safety
- 1 hour parent education workshops
- Car seat safety inspections
- 1 hour low-cost car seat safety appointments for parents
Program Staff
Sacramento County has 7 staff members responsible for overseeing this program including one Program Manager, Heath Educators, Health Education Assistants and student interns.
The staff participate in various meetings, including:
- The Greater Sacramento Safe Kids Coalition
- Perinatal Child Health Advisory Committee
- Safe Beginnings
- Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Alliance
