The mission of the Older Adult Resource Center is to provide the public with knowledge and understanding about the care needs of dependent and older adults, the kinds of facilities and services that provide such care and how to access such services.
The Older Adult Resource Center is a community partnership of:
§ Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services, Senior and Adult Services Division, (SAS) is the County’s lead agency for protection of seniors and disabled adults. The mission of the division is, in coordination with other public and private social service agencies, to assess and intervene to protect all elderly and dependent, disabled persons in the county from abuse, neglect, and exploitation in a way that preserves independence and self-determination.
§ The Adult and Aging Commission of Sacramento County, an advisory body to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, provides planning and oversight. Commissioners have experience in law, health and mental health systems, Health education, pharmacy, skilled nursing facilities, and other disciplines.
§ InfoLine Sacramento, a program of the Community Services Planning Council, is a comprehensive, multilingual information and referral service for Sacramento County. The program is also the senior information and assistance program for the County as designated by the Area 4 Agency on Aging.
§ Eskaton, a not-for-profit company established in 1968, has a mission to enhance the quality of life of seniors through innovative health, housing and social services. Eskaton provides free community service programs, telephone reassurance for isolated seniors, centralized placement referrals to skilled nursing facilities, home care services, adult day health care center as well as many retirement communities, assisted living facilities, and multi-service campus offering continuing care.
§ The State of California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Sacramento District Office, monitors the health and safety conditions in licensed community care facilities. CCL approves or denies applications for residential care facilities, enforces licensing laws and regulations, investigates complaints and revokes licenses when necessary.
The Older Adult Resource Center is staffed with a full time Coordinator. Staff follow policies and procedures developed by the collaborating partners who also monitor program activities. |
