The Birth & Beyond Community Response Program provides FREE and VOLUNTARY family support services to residents of Sacramento County at eight Family Resource Centers (FRC). The core components of the Birth & Beyond (B&B) Program include:
- Community Connection through FRC activities, School Readiness activities, and community referrals and resources.
- Primary Prevention through B&B home visitation, effective parenting education and maternal and child health.
- Early Intervention through differential response home visitation and crisis intervention.
Funding for Birth and Beyond is provided by the First 5 Sacramento Commission which uses Proposition 10 (tobacco tax) fund to support the healthy development of children age zero to five.
Family Resource Centers and Home Visitors can provide referrals to free and low-cost insurance options available to families that qualify. FRC’s can also help families sign-up for medical insurance.
Many of the FRC’s have clinics on-site, which provide prenatal care for pregnant women and Well Child exams for infants.
The FRC's offer health information, child development information, nutrition services, and lactation support through partnerships with Public Health Nurses, Child Development Professionals, School Districts, and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program.
