Juvenile Medical Services

The Primary Health Services Division, of the Department of Health and Human Services extends a warm welcome to the Juvenile Medical Services Program!

 

The Juvenile Medical Services program provides health services to children and youth in the Sacramento County juvenile correctional system.   Juvenile Medical Services staff includes physicians, nurses, clerical, and pharmacy personnel. They are aided by their affiliation with the Pediatric Department of the University of California, Davis, Medical Center. Senior pediatric residents do a clinical rotation in Adolescent Medicine at the Juvenile Hall. 

 

Service Locations:

 

  • Juvenile Hall
  • Sacramento County Boy’s Ranch

 Services Provided:

  • Acute care services for treatment of immediate, pre-existing conditions;
  • Preventive healthcare, including immunizations;
  • Family planning services, including health education and screening for sexually transmitted diseases; and
  • Referral and case management for minors with complicated medical problems to specialists as well as coordinating their care upon release or placement with the medical community.
